Good Government
I've done my best to create an open, responsive government because it is so clear that the
best solutions require the energy and wisdom of an engaged citizenry. Early in 2005 we added public
comment sessions so residents would have easier access to us. We launched a public service
initiative to ensure that residents are treated fairly and promptly any time they contact
county government. We have also held hundreds of public hearings and other public meetings.
For me, the comments of the public have been very important not just in shaping individual
decisions we make, but also in setting priorities for the issues we take up and how we
budget and spend limited County tax dollars.
