Growth
Because Boulder County is such a desirable place to live, we will continue to see more and more people who want to move here. So growth doesn't compromise our quality of life, it is vital that we
have county commissioners who are committed to keeping rural Boulder County rural. We should continue to steer
urban growth into our cities while at the same time maintaining the character of our unique communities.
We must continue to work together to ensure that decisions on how and where to grow are
based on the needs of communities rather than the convenience of developers. Building on
the success of intergovernmental agreements that establish growth boundaries for the cities
and towns in the county, we should work toward agreements where our cities and towns agree
to share rather than compete for sales tax revenue. The result will be more control of growth
at the local level, fewer subsidies of big box developers, better development patterns, and a
smaller overall carbon footprint.
